Liza Mann is a 1st Assistant Director based in New York City. She’s a member of the Directors Guild of America. Liza has worked with acclaimed directors Sean Baker, Michel Franco, Paul Dugdale, Azazel Jacobs and James Adolphus. She has been the 1st AD on twelve feature narratives alongside Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain, Peter Sarsgaard, Natasha Lyonne, Elizabeth Olsen, and Drew Barrymore. She has worked on multiple TV shows including the Netflix series "Dating Around", “Menendez Brothers: Misjudged," and the crime show "Diabolical”. She’s worked on commercials for clients such as Apple, Nike, Vogue, Under Armour, and music videos for Charlotte Gainsbourg, James Blunt, Madison Beer and Yungblud. In addition, Liza has been a producer on two feature films, she is a DGA Associate Director and she’s been part of legendary magician David Blaine’s team since 2015.
Liza is the author of the book "Ce Que Parler Veut Dire”, a critical study of narration in ethnographic films. She holds a master's degree in Ethnology & Cultural Anthropology (University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland) a master's degree in French literature (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) and she attended PhD trainings in Visual Anthropology at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
